Frequently asked questions
What counts as an abusive coupon order?
Any use outside the terms you set: a new-customer code on a repeat account, two codes combined on one order, a private influencer code redeemed by someone outside that audience, or a code kept alive past its end date through a browser extension.
Why show a break-even abuse share?
Because it tells you how confident you need to be. If the guard pays for itself at a 1% abuse rate and your sample shows 8%, the decision is easy; if break-even sits close to your estimate, sample more orders before committing. If it reads 100%, the guard cannot pay for itself at your order count and discount size even if every coupon order were abusive.
Does the return include shoppers who abandon checkout when a code is refused?
No. The calculator assumes blocked orders are either placed at the right price or were unprofitable anyway. If you see abandonment after tightening rules, lower the block rate input to reflect the net effect.
